Butterfly Conservatory

This post is designated for photos of the butterfly conservatory

Lots of fruit plates for butterflies to land on.

Every tent had two sets of doors to keep the insects in. There were 3 tents in total.

The entrance of the conservitory

The volcano is on the left of this photo, it was a very warm clear day.

Walking though the park.

We were able to walk to the conservitory, it was
within a quarter mile away from Essence Arenal.

This is a very popular butterfly, I have seen it to most in museums and the wild.

They look just like leaves! Amazing camouflage.

Transparent wings!

Turtle!

Cockroach!

Small poisenious frogs, no bigger than a thimble.

Can you spot the tree frogs?

Aligator snapping turtle

Another poisions dart frog, sleeping.

Can you spot it... Right in the middle.

A female tree frog

Two frogs, hiding in an epiphyte. An epiphyte is a type of plant that grows on a tree and helps it. In Oregon, and example of one is ferns growing on the trunk of a tree. There are lots of epiphytes like the pictured.

Turtle pond

Can you see the face? It might suprise you.....

We hiked around the edge of the conservitory

Leaf cutter ants! By far the most visible of all ants, they are carying peices of leaves to thier home for  fermentation. Soon, mushrooms will grow on the fermented leaves, and the ants will eat the mushrooms. The first farmers of the earth.

I thought this was really ineresting.

A very large tree. We thing this must have been here when the land was pasture.

Bench with monkeys, so far none in person.

Jungle selfie!

The view back to Essence Arenal, the clouds started to move in. The weather is very moody, just like Oregon.

The conservitory had a room full of chrysalis.

Wishing for the best on your adventures,

Cienna
