Reunited With my Second Host Family
Today I slept in till 9:00. I had nothing specifically planed for today and spent to morning relaxing. I called my first host family to see what they were up too, and found that they will be busy until Wednesday, if not till Thursday. I then texted my host sister of my second host family to see what she was up too. P'Mod was delighted to hear I was in town, and called me to see if I wanted to have lunch with her and my host mom, Meh Lek. Of corse I did not pass up this opportunity to spend time with them, and by 12:00 we were sitting in the hotel restaurant, enjoying each others company.
After lunch we stopped by their house to drop off P'Mod. I was sad to hear that one of my favorite stray dogs I had meet while staying with them, and Meh Lek's dog had passed away a few months ago.
I accompanied Meh'Lek to a Rotary function at the local Hospital. I met lots of the rotarians there, most of them very surprised to see me and shocked by my hair cut as many remember me with longer hair. They were all very sweet and surprised that I remembered most of my Thai. I was then dropped off back at my hotel. After resting a little, and talking to P'Mod, I got invited to dinner with them! At 6:40 they picked me up from my hotel and took me to their house. We surprised my host dad, Kon Pah, because he did know know I was in town. He didn't recognize me because of my short hair.
Ago, the cook, made my favorite, fried chicken. We also had steamed fish, steamed vegetables, and some soup. It was great visiting with everyone, listening to my host dad try and speak english, and eating the food I have missed so much. P'Mook, my older host sister, invited me to go with her tomarrow to give books to children at a Chinese-Thai emersion school. This school is looking into teaching english as well, and P'Mook and her rotary club is giving english books to them. Two other exchange students, one from France and one form Mexico, will be going as well.
Today was another wonderful day spent with wonderful people. Being with them warmed my heart. I am very glad to have been able to meet up with such wonderful people.
Wishing for the best on your adventures
